Hysteretic melting transition of a soliton lattice in a commensurate charge modulation.
We report on the observation of the hysteretic transition of a commensurate charge modulation in IrTe2 from transport and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) studies. Below the transition (TC≈275 K on cooling), a q=1/5 charge modulation was observed, which is consistent with previous studies. Additional modulations [qn=(3n+2)(-1)] appear below a second transition at TS≈180 K on cooling. The c...
متن کاملReentrant Melting of Soliton Lattice Phase in Bilayer Quantum Hall System
At large parallel magnetic field B‖, the ground state of bilayer quantum Hall system forms uniform soliton lattice phase. The soliton lattice will melt due to the proliferation of unbound dislocations at certain finite temperature leading to the Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT) melting. We calculate the KT phase boundary by numerically solving the newly developed set of Bethe ansatz equations, which fu...

We report on a Monte-Carlo study of two-dimensional Ginzburg-Landau superconductors in a magnetic field which finds clear evidence for a firstorder phase transition characterized by broken translational symmetry of the superfluid density. A key aspect of our study is the introduction of a quantity proportional to the Fourier transform of the superfluid density which can be sampled efficiently i...
متن کاملSoliton emission in amplifying lattice surfaces.
We address surface solitons supported by the interface of optical lattices imprinted in saturable media with surface-localized gain. The nonlinearity saturation puts restrictions on the maximal energy flow carried by surface solitons. As a consequence, the presence of a thin amplifying layer near the surface results in the controllable emission of solitons toward the lattice at angles depending...
متن کاملParametric amplification of random lattice soliton swinging.
We consider the propagation of solitons in media with an imprinted transverse periodic or parabolic refractive index modulation when the modulation depth fluctuates slightly along the propagation direction. We find that, under suitable spectral resonance conditions, small transverse soliton oscillations may get parametrically amplified.
